Coach Mack is easily recognizable from her stylish outfits and signature bright orange boots as she coaches Greater Latrobe girls’ basketball. Now, she puts on another flag football jersey, making headlines for something even bigger. On October 1, 2025, Greater Latrobe head girls basketball and flag football coach took on a new groundbreaking role as the first-ever head girls flag football coach at Saint Vincent College. While she continues at Latrobe, she is also bringing her energy and passion to the college level.
Last year, Coach Livingston started a girls’ flag football team at Greater Latrobe High School. “I have played in a league for eight years now, and I personally love it. Watching it grow elsewhere and in other districts, I just wanted to give girls here another opportunity to play another sport. After the Turkey Bowl that was held last year, I saw how many girls really enjoyed playing football,” said Livingston.
Coach Livingston has experience playing, alongside coaching. She has played flag football for the Indiana Women’s Flag Football League and All-Star Team as a wide receiver and safety for seven years. Within those seven years, she has had four undefeated seasons and won six championships. She has also played for two travel teams and gone to various states to compete.
Although this is not her first year coaching flag football, it is her first time coaching in this new role at the college. “It’s been exciting and challenging! I can take the next step into my coaching career, and that is now at the college level. It is challenging because it is a whole different ball game at this level,” said Livingston.
Coach Livingston is determined to make this program successful at Saint Vincent and, most importantly, build a strong connection with her team. “I will be building trust with my new players by getting to know each one of them throughout the season! I will be attending Saint Vincent basketball games to cheer some of my multi-sport athletes on to show them I care about them outside of football as well,” said Livingston.
Coach Livingston also has personal goals for herself. “My personal goals this season are to take a step back and enjoy the experience. This is the first time coaching at this level, and I want to soak it all in and enjoy the experience. Wins would be a bonus, and with this group, I don’t see that being an issue,” said Livingston.
After meeting with her team for the first time, Coach Livingston was very impressed with the skill level and chemistry they brought to the field. Many of the players are also on the basketball team, so the team already has a strong bond. Coach Livingston said one of the team’s biggest strengths is their communication. “Our biggest strengths are the communication skills of the players. Most of them play basketball together at Saint Vincent, so they have already established chemistry,” said Livingston. As a basketball player herself, she knows how communication is one of the most important parts.
The team has already started playing together. On October 12, the Bearcats had the amazing opportunity to play their first-ever game against Chatham at halftime at the Steelers game. “This is something that showcases how fast girls’ football is evolving. I also think it propels the football team into an exciting new chapter, which is something awesome for high schoolers–because it was televised,” said Livingston. Her dedication and hard work make her the perfect fit for this role. There is no doubt that under her leadership, the team will grow not only on the field but off it as well.
