Emily DiPiazza, Class of 2027, Washington & Jefferson, DUQ
Emily thinks it’s important to visit college to see the student life and how you want to spend your time outside of the classroom. Emily Dipiazza visited Washington & Jefferson, Slippery Rock, Duquesne, and St. Francis. She picked relatively different schools ranging from small to medium sizes. W & J only had 1200 students on campus, which is different to Duquesne that has 9,000. Emily preferred the busy campus of Duquesne compared to the quiet campus of W & J. “Duquesne was very busy with students participating in different activities and organizations but their programs are much more competitive compared to W & J,” said Dipiazza.
Elana Eckenrode, Class of 2027 West Virginia University, Penn State, Saint Vincent College
“I think it’s good to tour colleges because it really shows you what to expect from each college, and helps narrow down what college is best for your specific major,” said Eckenrode. Elana Eckenrode is interested in nursing. She visited Saint Vincent College, Pennsylvania State University and West Virginia University. She enjoyed Saint Vincent’s interactive cadavers. She also took a liking to West Virginia’s huge hospital, large campus and their living spaces. Both West Virginia and Penn State had great simulations and set up scenarios, which are beneficial for nursing students.
