Big things are coming to The High Post this 2019-2020 school year, and I, Alli Himler, am ready to take on the challenges associated with creating the best student newspaper possible!  I am in my Sophomore year, and I’m very involved in the choral department and GLSH Drama Club. I’ve been in choir since fifth grade, and I’m just beginning my first year of Chamber Choir. Making Chamber has been my biggest goal for high school, and it’s funny how hard work and some risk-taking really pays off! Along the way,  I’ve been a Greater Latrobe Junior High Choral Cat, and I’ve also participated in three county chorus festivals, and I plan to continue my choral journey by auditioning for PMEA, a select choir with a rigorous audition process. Although I know it’s hard, I believe that that the risk may pay off if I’m well prepared. As I also mentioned, I am a theater kid. I love all aspects of theater; the stories, the teamwork, the stage, the sets, the people, even the auditorium itself. I have participated in 8 musicals so far. I was cast in the role of Molly in the musical Annie with the Bethany Players when I was just six years old. The most recent show that I took part in was Greater Latrobe’s Man of La Mancha, where I had the privilege of playing The Mule. In all of my musical experience, I’d have to say that the sense of family that we create is the best part of all. It’s fascinating to watch any group of people with common interests grow closer over time while doing what they love, and I hope to capture some of that team bonding during this year of journalism. In addition to this, I am very excited to be welcomed into this new world that I know very little about. I originally joined The High Post team because of my love for writing, but I never realized just how much more there is to learn and do in journalism, and I look forward to the future of this class!
