Gregory Irons, Staff Writer

Howdy everybody! My name is Gregory Irons but you can call me Greg!  I am a senior in Greater Latrobe Senior High School and have been for about three weeks now.  I have been attending this school district for 13 years now (including kindergarten). I can happily say that I do a lot a lot of clubs and activities through the school.  I am part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Link Crew, and National Honor Society. I am especially proud of being in the NHS because it is a way of representing all of the hard work I put into all of my schoolwork!  I am also very active outside of the school. I enjoy playing sports, fishing, and I also have a job at the Chick-Fil-A in East-Gate Plaza, Greensburg PA. I love my job and I love working with all of my coworkers. I work in the Back-Of-House, which means I work in the kitchen and do all the cooking and preparation of the food.  Despite that, the biggest thing I do outside of school is definitely hockey. I have been playing hockey for about 10 years now, and I play for the Allegheny Badgers and Latrobe's Varsity team. I can proudly say that I am a goaltender and start for both teams as well! In the future, I plan to follow my dream of making it into Penn State's main campus just like my father and sister did and plan on enrolling in their biological engineering major. Penn State is the reason I spent hundreds of hours on schoolwork,  I have always wanted to get in since I was a little child. I hope to gain many skills from this class to help me get accepted. I took multimedia journalism for multiple reasons this year. For starters, I really want to improve my writing and enhance my style. I have always been struggling with my writing and I know by taking this class I can really put time and effort into my writing and improve it in many ways. Also, I really want to expand my interests and I think journalism would be an excellent class to take in that area! It has really useful skills in life and I thoroughly enjoy learning about what's going on in the world.  One dream I hope will come true is to attend a famous speech or interview an important person this year. Whether or not that happens, I have really high hopes and have so much built up excitement going into this year of journalism!
