All great movie franchises must come to an end. We recently said goodbye to the “Girl on Fire” in the last Hunger Games movie rendition, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. We watched Katniss Everdeen from a young starving girl to the face of a rebellion alongside her true love Peeta Mellark, her other love Gale Hawthorne, the sarcastic Victor of District 12, Haymitch Abernathy, fashionista Effie Trinket, and her loving young sister Primrose Everdeen. We made friends along the way such as Rue in the first Hunger Games who broke our hearts with her death, Beetee the inventor from District 3 in “Catching Fire”, sassy Johanna Mason from District 9 whose hate for the capital helped her survive the Quarter Quell, Finnick Odair from District 4 who won us all over with his charm and good looks. But we have also lost beloved characters such as Madge from District 4 who we lost in the fog during the Quarter Quell, Cinna, Katniss’s stylist who was beaten by Peacekeepers, we later lost Finnick to the hounds fighting for the capital and Prim who was in the midst of the bombing of the capitol. We have all been waiting for the moment that the capital goes down and Katniss kills President Snow. Mockingjay part 2 was a great ending to the trilogy and showed us that Katniss and Peeta’s love is “Real.”
