
English Teacher (Elyse LaCarte)
Mr. Tyger is the new 10th and 11th grade English teacher. Mr. Tyger graduated from Pitt-Greensburg with a major in education and a concentration in English-Literature. He student-taught at Southmoreland High School before ending up at Greater Latrobe.
His interest in teaching sparked because his mother was a teacher, and he had close relationships with his teachers throughout high school. The art and athletic programs at Greater Latrobe is what stood out to Mr. Tyger. He also appreciates the community that is built between students and staff in the school. He is looking forward to getting to know students and faculty. Mr. Tyger also helps coaching the junior high football team alongside Mr. Trentin. Mr. Tyger enjoys comic books, with his favorite book being The Court of Owls which was published by DC Comics. His advice to students is to be careful with who you spend your time with.

Government/ Personal Finance/ Global Studies teacher (Elyse LaCarte)
Ms. Vater is another new teacher in the building. Ms. Vater teaches Government, Global Studies, and Personal Finance. She believes that the skills that are taught in Personal Finance are very important, as they help students throughout life after high school. Ms. Vater is a Latrobe alumna, who graduated from Saint Vincent College with a degree in History. She has always known she wanted to be a teacher, and History has always been an area of interest throughout her school years. The sense of community stood out to her about Greater Latrobe. She enjoys cooking in her free time and her favorite type of food to cook is Asian cuisine. Ms. Vater’s advice to students is to soak up and enjoy high school, as it goes by very quickly.
