On Friday October 18, 2019, the Greater Latrobe Wildcats took a three hour trip to Middleburg, PA to play a 7:30 game against the Midd-West Mustangs. Both the Wildcats and the Mustangs had a record of 3-5 coming into the game.

On the Mustangs first drive of the game, they got one first down but couldn’t get anything after that. The Latrobe defense would force Midd-West to punt, and Kam Stevens was back to recieve it. He returned it 85 yards for the Latrobe touchdown to put the Wildcats on top 7-0.

Again the Latrobe defense would hold Midd-West to punt on their next possession. Latrobe got the punt at their 42 yard line, but there was a 10 yard holding penalty which made them start at their 32 yard line. On the ensuing drive for Latrobe, Dakota Morrison, AJ Rock, and Bobby Fetter had big runs. Those runs set up a 3 yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Bobby Fetter to put the Cats up 14-0.

Once again the Latrobe defense held the Mustangs who went three and out, and ended up going for it on fourth down. The Mustangs didn’t get it, and it was a turnover on downs, Latrobe ball on their own 46. Latrobe gave the ball to Kam Stevens on the first play of the next drive, and he went 28 yards. Logan Gustafson went 22 yards. And AJ Rock went 10 yards. AJ Rock got a 1 yard touchdown run, and the Wildcats were up by 21 in the first half at Middleburg.

After back and forth defense Midd-West got the ball on their own 26 yard line. After a 1 yard run by Trey Lauver, quarterback Christian Regester threw a pass that was intercepted by Tucker Knupp. The Wildcats were on top 28-0, and they took that lead to halftime.

Defense was the story of the third quarter, and there was no scoring. On Midd-West’s third possession of the second half, quarterback Christian Regester threw two passes to his brother Gabe Regester, and Midd-West was on the board. The score was 28-7 Latrobe. On the next possession quarterback Branden Crosby had a 3 yard run, while Bobby Fetter had a run of 2 yards. Logan Gustafson had 1 yard run, then Kam Stevens exploded with a 19 yard run, and a 26 yard touchdown run to seal the deal for the Wildcats. The Wildcats won 35-7 against Midd-West. The Wildcats will host their regular season finale against Highlands at Memorial Stadium on Friday, October 25, 2019.
