-The U.S. government establishes a permanent Navy in 1794
-American Director, Quentin Tarantino, best know for his film “Pulp Fiction, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1963.
-The Great Alaskan earthquake, with a magnitude of 9.2, causing a tsunami killing 139 people in 1963. The largest U.S. earthquake.
-At the 45th Academy Awards, “The Godfather”, wins three Oscars, including best picture in 1973.
