On May 22, 2010 several students from Greater Latrobe helped raise money for charity and create a fun event for children. Truckapoloosa, as it was called, was sponsored by the Women’s Business Network and provided many trucks and cars for kids to climb and a few local businesses helped by selling things like food or jewelry. A portion of the proceeds benefitted the Relay for Life. Members of the Key Club, Interact club, and football team were there to help out and represent Greater Latrobe.
Some companies that are a part of the Women’s Business network are Buttonwood financial Services, Scalise reality, Cardio Bootcamp, Gino Giannili’s, and Everyday Therapeutics. At the Truckapoloosa kids could get their face painted or get photos taken with the fire truck. Little girls could have glamour shots taken of them. Gino Giannili’s, Chick-Fil-A and Pittsburgh Popcorn Company provided the food for the event.
While the rainy weather put a slight damper on the event, those kids who showed up thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Women’s Business Network plans to make this an annual event and to continue raising money for such a worthy cause.
