Boys Basketball:
On January 21st, the Boys Basketball team suffered a tough loss against Uniontown, 45-64. However, the team was able to bounce back, taking down Laurel Highlands 68-40 on January 24th. With this win, the Cats secured their spot in the playoffs. On January 28th, the boys fought hard against Penn Trafford, but couldn’t come out on top, losing to the Warriors 52-54. The team travelled to Franklin Regional where they lost a heartbreaker in overtime, 71-73. On February 4th, the team hosted McKeesport for their senior night and honored their four seniors with a 71-43 victory. On Febraury 7th, ended their regular season with a 86-78 win over Albert Gallatin.
Girls Basketball:
On January 20th, the Girls Basketball team fell to Penn Trafford, 45-61. The team overcame this loss on January 23rd, beating McKeesport 63-44 for their Senior Night. The girls took this momentum into their next game on January 28th, defeating Kiski 38-28. On January 30th, the Cats lost a close game against Indiana, 57-62. On February 3rd, the team traveled to Greensburg Salem but was unable to come away with the win, losing 46-48. On February 6th, the girls lost their last game of the regular season, against Blackhawk, 56-72.
Hockey:
On January 21st, the Hocket team lengthened their win streak to eleven straight games with a 4-0 victory over Canon McMillan. The team hosted Fox Chapel for their Senior Night on January 30th, but the Ice Cats didn’t get their desired result, falling to the Foxes 2-5.
Girls Swimming:
On January 23rd, the Girls Swimming team beat Hempfield, 92-81. On January 25th, the team competed in the WCCA Tournament and took home 1st Place with 318 points. Lauren Bell was instrumental in this victory, coming in 1st Place in the 100-yard butterfly and taking 2nd in the 50-yard freestyle. Bell was also a part of the record-breaking performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which also consisted of Maggie Elder, Hannah Carasia, and Destini Homan. On January 30th, the girls had a strong performance against Franklin Regional, 96-88, and with this win the team won the section. The girls continued their winning ways on February 4th with an 89-73 victory against Norwin. On February 6th, the Girls Swimming team hosted Armstrong for their senior night. The team honored their seniors with a 97-74 win over the Riverhawks.
Boys Swimming:
On January 23rd, the Boys Swimming team took down Hempfiled with a score of 99-81. That weekend, on January 25th, the boys participated in the WCCA Tournament, finishing in 2nd Place with 284 points. Patrick Cratty played a vital role in the team’s placement, taking home 1st Place in the 100-yard freestyle and placing 2nd in the 200-yard freestyle. The boys also broke the record for the 200-yard freestyle with the team consisting of Cratty, Chris Heese, Charlie Thomson, and Heinrich van der Westhuizen. On January 30th, the boys suffered a tough loss, 77-103, against Franklin Regional. On February 4th, the team bounced back with an 87-78 win against Norwin. The boys faced Armstrong for their senior night on February 6th, winning 24-12.
Boys Wrestling:
On January 22nd, the Boys Wrestling team fell to Connellsville, 21-41. The team then headed back to Connellsville for the first round of the WPIAL Playoffs on January 29th, where the boys lost to Kiski, 29-45.
Girls Wrestling:
On February 1st, the Girls Wrestling team traveled to North Allegheny for a tournament. After a hard fight, unfortunately, none of the girls placed.
