Spirit Week
Spirit week is all about getting into the zone for homecoming weekend. It gives everyone a chance to have fun before homecoming. The themes were Monday College Day, Tuesday Celebrity Look-alike, Wednesday Dress Like a Teacher, Thursday PJ Day, and Friday Wildcat spirit wear.
Spirit Week is about raising students’ spirits and getting them excited for the upcoming dance. The homecoming spirit week gets students to participate and get excited.
The Pep Rally
The pep rally is what gets students excited for homecoming. The cheerleaders performed routines, the fall sports were announced, the captains of each sport answered a couple of questions each, and some members of each sport participated in a game. The pep rally hyped students up and even got some to go to the football game later on.
The Parade
A variety of groups got together to have a float for the homecoming parade. Whether the groups are friends, clubs, even classrooms. The parade happened in Latrobe before the football game. People that live in Latrobe came out to watch and even sat on their porches.
The Game
The Latrobe Wildcats had a tough start with a safety to start the game. Kiski scored a touchdown making the score 8-0 to end the first quarter. At the end of the second, John Wetzel was able to get away and run in a 63-yard touchdown. They went for 2 points but did not receive it, with the score at 8-6. With 1:20 left to go in the
first half, Kiski scored a 70-yard touchdown, also receiving the extra point. With only a few seconds left in the second quarter, John Wetzel threw another 63-yard touchdown to Andy Tatsch. Roman Agostoni kicked for the extra point making the score 15-13 to end the second quarter. During halftime, the marching band and the color guard performed, and the homecoming queen was announced. With a lot of back and forth to start the 3rd quarter, at 6:13 Kiski ran in a 3-yard touchdown and also got the extra point. 22-13 Kiski with the lead. 3 minutes later Kiski then scored a 25-yard touchdown and kicked the extra point. 29-13. Ending the 3rd quarter with no score added on the board for the Wildcats, Kiski scored again 36-13 with the extra point. With neither team scoring in the 4th quarter, the Latrobe Wildcats fell to Kiski Area.
Homecoming Court
During the football game against Kiski Area at Memorial Stadium, Belle Blossey passed off the crown to Sophia Bulava. With many emotions, Sophia Bulava was overflown with happiness. She was very grateful for the experience. Her cheerleaders were very supportive and happy for her. They were excited to be able to share this moment with her and be proud. The moment was very special to Sophia. Her sister, Ella Bulava, even came from Maryland to support her sister. Even though others did not win, they were all grateful to share the court with each other.
Each senior shared how they felt about being elected and part of the court.

The Dance
Homecoming is all about dressing up and having fun. It’s almost like a little break from school. Friend groups get together before homecoming to take pictures and some go out to dinner. At homecoming there was a bonfire, food, and music picked by students. Students had the chance to dance and sing with friends and even with people they don’t talk to. As the night went on and got cold, students gathered around the fire to heat up and talk.
