2017 Men’s Lacrosse Preview

Coaching Staff: Pete Cuda – Head Varsity Coach, David Leksell – Assistant Varsity Coach, Sean Grosso – Assistant Varsity Volunteer Coach, Keith Torrillo – Assistant Varsity Volunteer Coach

Coach’s Comment: We are in a new and more competitive section this season facing high quality teams such as Shadyside Academy, Fox Chapel, and Penn Trafford. We can compete with anyone in our section and our goal every year is to make the playoffs. We lost a number of seniors from last year, so we have several gaps to fill on the defensive side of the field. Having said that, we have many great athletes coming out this season that we have high expectations that they will be able to step up and perform at the level we need them to.

Key Players: Junior – Marco Cuda, Senior – Garrett Yeager

Marco was the top scoring leader last year and Garrett was a close second.

Underclassmen to Watch: Sophomores – Matt Bobula and Colvin Stallings

Last season Matt earned a starting position on the varsity team at Attack and Colvin saw playing time at the Midfield. Both are expected to have even more of an impact this year as rising sophomores.

Player’s Thoughts: Senior Garrett Yeager,”My teammates are great and we have a great coach. I feel that we all come into this season wanting to do better than we did last season. We want to win the section and go on to make it further in the playoffs.”
