The success of the girls volleyball team has been a reoccurring event for the last few years, and this year is no different. The well-disciplined team is coached by Jen Feiertag, who is the mother figurer for all, and mostly of senior setter and captain Kasey Feiertag, her daughter.
The lady Cats are an experienced team that has hopes of doing well, and winning in the WPIAL championships. The four seniors all play a significant role on the team. The setter, Kasey Feiertag; outside hitter, Katie Svetahor; libero, Courtney Stynchula; and defensive specialist, Kim McDonagh.
The seniors aren’t the only ones contributing to the success so far this season. The team also attributes three starting juniors and one sophomore.
Sophomore, April Krivoniak, said “We are playing well as a team, and everyone is motivated to win. Winning sections this year would be a great accomplishment for the team.”
With the team only losing one game against non-section opponent Baldwin, team still holds a 8-1 record overall, with only a few more matches left.
The Cats have played with great motivation all season, which will carry on into the postseason and potentially a section title. “I am very proud of the girls, and the way they put it all on the line each game. Their hard work is showing in every game they play,” said Coach Feiertag.
With the season winding down and the Cats expecting to win the section, winning the last remaining matches would be key to accomplishing this goal, even though the team has a commanding section lead. The lady Cat’s are ready to step up and win WPIAL’s.
