Tyler, the Creator, has not been to Pittsburgh since 2017. I immediately got tickets when he announced he was going on tour for his new album. Compared to the seat tickets, the floor tickets were not that bad. I paid $449 for a floor ticket back in November 2024. I have been listening to him since I was in 5th grade, when he released his album IGOR. His song, EARFQUAKE, was pretty popular on Musically, also known as TikTok now.

I got ready, crimped my hair, and put on my outfit. I had massive gold hoops on, many gold rings on my finger (half of them fell off there), I had black Converse on so I didn’t ruin my newer shoes, a comfortable black skirt on with a mesh cheetah shirt. His concerts are competitions for the best outfit. I saw one person wearing a judge costume for his song, Judge Judy, and I kept seeing people wearing button-ups and jorts or with ties on. Everyone had very creative outfits on, other than the boys who wore one of the merch T-shirts with shorts. but I didn’t go that crazy because I wanted to be comfortable. We left for Pittsburgh at 1:30 and got to the arena at around 2:45. There were 2 lines, one for the general admission floor and one for merch. We decided to wait in the merch line, which the merch line was not long at all. Once they opened the crate, it only took around 20 minutes to secure the merch. I got a hoodie and a T-shirt. The hoodie was black with green masks on the sleeve, and the back has all the tour dates also in green. The shirt is black with the words, Save The Bees, in green on the back. I spent $140 so they gave me a free sample of his perfume.

After that, we went to the general admission line and waited from around 3:30 to 6:30 when they opened the doors. As we waited there until they opened, the general admission line kept getting longer and longer to the point I could not even see or tell where the end of the line was. It kept raining on and off, so my hair went back to being straight. I put on my hoodie and T-shirt because I didn’t want to hold them during the concert. We went through security and went straight to the floor.
The first opener came on at 7:30, they are called Paris Texas. I liked them, but I did not know any of their songs; they were a vibe, at least. At the end of their set, people were excited to see Lil Yachty and started pushing. Lil Yachty came on around 8:15, and he
was done by 9. I listened to some of his music, and people around me liked him, so since I was really close, a lot of people were pushing to get closer as he started playing some of his old hits. Tyler came on 30 minutes later, around 9:30, and that’s when everyone was pushing a lot. He started at the main stage for a couple songs and then when he went on the bridge above, everyone was shoving to try to see him and also catch a dollar that he was throwing. Tyler throws dollar bills during his song Sticky at each of his concerts.

When he got to the B stage, everyone was super close to me. I was close to Tyler, but I felt so closed in. I did not have water, and if I left to get some, I would have trouble finding my friends again. When he started playing his old songs, I felt like I was going to pass out, but I didn’t. He eventually went back to the main stage for the last couple of songs. Overall, he is an amazing performer, and the concert was beautiful, especially knowing each song has a deep meaning behind it to him.
When the concert was over, it felt unreal. We started following the crowd out of the arena as security was handing out bottles of water. I grabbed one and chugged it. I was so close to him that I could see how sweaty he was from it being unbelievably hot. It always feels like it did not happen. Especially with being so close to the stage, I was surprised they were so close to me. It felt like the concert did not even happen because it was so amazing and mind-blowing. It was definitely a memorable experience. I especially jumped at the idea of buying tickets to see him because I have a feeling he may not go back on tour after this.
With being 34 years old, 8 albums, 37 singles, and 2 Grammys, the artist has achieved so much. His Chromakopia tour has been a huge hit so far. Pittsburgh was a sold-out show. All the seats were taken, even the nosebleeds, and the floor was packed with people.

Sophomore Makenzii Gant went with me to the concert. “I really had fun, the pit was wild but it was definitely worth it.” Even with being squished, the experience was worth it since we were feet away from the openers and Tyler. Tyler gave such an amazing performance, “The show was amazing and Tyler was great. You can tell his emotions are strong and raw, and his voice live is absolutely amazing!” Says Makenzii. When listening to his lyrics, they mean something to him as well as his fans. Each lyric means something different and to a different degree for each fan, which is amazing, as many artists struggle to find that raw emotion. His lyrics can be taken as something personal to fans lifes as well as his own, which is music that is hard to find. In the future, I hope to go to more concerts, especially in Pittsburgh the service was very smooth.
