Girls lacrosse Jv lost to the Big Macs 3-11. Shortly after, the varsity Lady Cats fell 5-19.

Allyson Merchant, Staff Writer
Allyson Merchant is a junior at Greater Latrobe for the 2024-2025 school year. This is her first year on the Greater Latrobe journalism team. She is a part of the Latrobe girls lacrosse team, as well as a travel club team Intrepid based in Pittsburgh. She loves creating positive energy for her teammates and lifting others up. As a sophomore, she was a captain of the Latrobe JV team and a player on varsity. Allyson varsity lettered her sophomore year and won an offensive player award. She loves all kinds of art mostly ceramics, sketching, painting, and scrapbooking. She loves traveling, listening to music, and hanging out with friends and family. Ally frequently babysits and enjoys learning about new people. She took this course to expand her love of photography and to learn about others’ stories. Allyson is an honor-roll student who likes to challenge herself by in her academics.

Nina Scalise, Staff Writer
Nina Scalise is a sophomore in her first year as a High Post staff member. She has been a part of the WCAT-TV broadcasting studio since freshman year. Nina hopes to bring her experience from WCAT-TV into journalism. She is a varsity letterman for the Latrobe girl’s field hockey team and a Latrobe girl’s lacrosse team member. Last season, Nina won the MVP award for lacrosse. Nina is an active member of the Interact Club and Key Club. She is also an honor roll student. Nina’s interest in photography is what sparked her to take Multimedia Journalism. Nina is looking forward to capturing and reporting stories for her school.

Abby Carroll, Staff Writer
Abby Carroll is a senior on The High Post staff and this is her first year taking journalism. She finds journalism very interesting and enjoys going to the events in the community and in the school. Throughout her high school career she has been involved academically and socially at school and throughout the community. She is looking forward to interviewing fellow classmates about their experiences and writing articles. She is a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and National Art Honors Society. She is on the girls varsity lacrosse team and has played since she was in seventh grade. She also spends time in the summer volunteering at a high adventure camp called Outdoor Odyssey because she has a passion for the outdoors. Abby has been skiing since she could walk and loves to travel. In her free time she also mountain bikes with her dad, hangs out with her friends, and cooks different meals. Abby will always try new activities and is addicted to adrenaline. She has a strong interest in biology and anatomy and would love to be a dietitian for a sports team in the NFL or NBA to help the players reach their fullest potential through what they eat. Abby hopes to expand her experience through taking journalism and continue to get involved with her peers during her senior year.
