Hello everyone! My name is Abbey Machesney, and this is my first year on the High Post staff. I enjoy traveling in the summer. My favorite vacation is when I went to North Troy, Vermont two summers ago. In Vermont, I went hiking on a mountain, kayaking, and I did a lot of shopping.Climbing a mountain was the coolest experience ever. Before we started to climb the mountain, it didn’t look too high up. But when I got to the top. I could see everything! The mountain I went hiking on was called Jay Peak. It took me at least two and a half hours to climb, but it was worth it!  Jay Peak is almost 4,000 feet above sea level. So we were pretty high up! My favorite part of the whole trip was probably kayaking.The lake I kayaked on was called Lake Memphremagog. The lake is between Newport, Vermont and Magog, Quebec. So it was pretty long. The shopping malls I went to were in Burlington, Vermont. Which was a long drive from my Grandma’s house to the malls. I’d say about an hour. Burlington was totally different in North Troy. There was so many choices to choose from with shopping, and much more busy than where my Grandma lives.I also enjoy running, skiing, playing video games, and of course taking pictures. Every winter I look forward to going up to Seven Springs, and skiing with my friends. This year will be my second year skiing, so I am new at it. Every spring I start to look forward doing Track and Field. The events I do in track are sprinting the 100m and 200m dash. I used to do pole vaulting, but I decided that I like sprinting more. I’ve met lots of people and many friends doing these activities.
