“I knew I was going to buy it. It was perfect and exactly what I wanted,” Erin Ulewics said. For high school students, finding the perfect prom dress can be a thrilling yet overwhelming experience. But for Erin, a Greater Latrobe Junior, the search was easier than expected, thanks to a memorable trip to MB Prom, a nearby dress boutique. Erin’s journey to finding the perfect prom dress shows not just the store’s wide selection but also the exceptional customer service and supportive environment provided by the MB Prom team.
Erin went to MB Prom with no intention of purchasing a dress that day. “I just went for fun with my friends right before work and only had 30 minutes to look, just to see what color and shape I liked, because I’ve never tried on a prom dress before. I didn’t even bring my mom with me or any money. I was just going to look,” Erin explained. However, after trying on just three dresses, Erin found the one.
One of the dress consultants at MB Prom, who helped Erin find her dream dress, was senior Bri Hoffer. “I really enjoy my job. I get to play dress-up all day, so it’s so fun. I also love seeing the girls in all the dresses and watching their faces light up when they put the dresses on,” she said. Bri’s role is to assist customers by helping tie up their dress and even by pulling dresses that fit their style preferences, ensuring that each girl feels comfortable and confident.
“Being outgoing, kind, and patient is crucial for my job because it can be overwhelming for girls to pick their prom dresses. I’ve even pulled dresses for girls that they ended up loving and buying. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many, so I do my best to make their time memorable at MB Prom,” Bri said.
Erin appreciated Bri’s helpfulness throughout the process. “Bri was so sweet and patient, asking me how I felt in each dress. Once I tried on the fuchsia dress, everyone knew I was already sold on it,” Erin said.
The fuchsia pink dress Erin fell in love with was exactly what she had been searching for. “I’ve always wanted a dress that’s simple but not plain. If the dress has too much going on, people will only pay attention to the dress, and if it’s too plain, it’s boring,” she said. The dress has a strapless corset top with sequins, and the satin on the bottom was ruched on the side with a slit. It was exactly what Erin had envisioned. “It wasn’t too expensive either, which was a huge relief,” she added. The price of her dress was only $230, inexpensive compared to other dresses she had tried on that day.
Erin’s experience didn’t just revolve around finding the perfect dress. The atmosphere at MB Prom played a big part in her decision. “The environment is so fun. Everyone is there with their moms or siblings, and it’s a really unique experience. People are constantly leaning over and complimenting each other,” Erin said. One moment stood out to her when a mother and daughter gave her their approval. “That comment really supported my decision to buy this dress, especially because my mom wasn’t with me.”
As prom season approaches, Erin, who found her dream dress early, can rest easy knowing she’s one step ahead of the game. “I don’t have a date yet, but I know exactly what he will be wearing. I’m wearing my dress with bright silver heels and silver jewelry, and he’ll wear a navy suit with a pink tie and brown shoes. I’m so excited!”
Others help spread the word about MB Prom to high schoolers from all over the area. Senior Porsche Sartoris, a “glaMBassador” for the store, is one of the individuals responsible for advertising the dresses and generating excitement for prom season. Porsche first learned about the glaMBassador program through social media and decided to apply. “It’s been so fun to work with other girls from different schools and experience it together,” Porsche said. “We post about the dresses and help spread the word to potential customers.” As a glaMBassador, Porsche gets many perks including 20% off homecoming dresses, and the glam can start earring points for a discount towards their personal prom dress. “Each post I make gives me one point, and one point equals one dollar. So the more posts I make, the more points I earn toward my prom dress,” Porsche said.
The role of a glaMBassador involves attending events like fashion shows and posting about MB Prom’s latest collections on social media. “Shows are so fun to do because you get to show off dresses that are new on the rack that no one has seen yet. It makes you feel like you are a model,” she said. The prom fashion show for 2025 held on January 5 debuted the prom season. Porsche’s strategy includes highlighting dresses that match the season or upcoming events, like red and green dresses for Christmas or pinks and reds for Valentine’s Day.
At MB Prom, finding the perfect dress isn’t just about the dress, but it’s also about the shared experience, the support, and the lasting memories that make prom a night to remember. Whether you’re a customer searching for your dream dress, a consultant helping make the experience memorable, or a glaMBassador promoting the latest trends, MB Prom provides an environment that supports and celebrates each customer’s style along with the tradition of prom night.
