The Wallows is an Indie and rock music band formed in 2017. The band is made up of Dylan Minnette as their lead singer who was a very popular actor in the series 13 Reasons Why, Braeden Lemasters the bass guitarist, and Cole Preston on drums. I went to their 10th show on the Model and More tour held at the UPMC event center in Moon Township which is a small venue that can hold around 4,000 people. This particular show was sold out for the night. I went with one of my good friends and we had floor tickets. We were right at the barricade and very close to the stage. The opener for the concert was Den Never, a small indie singer. Although I didn’t know her music or who she was, she brought energy. Her music felt very calming. After she was done performing, the suspense was overtaking the crowd waiting for the main performer. The Wallows started behind a thin curtain with their shadows showing through which was really amazing. It was a great way to start the night.
They played their biggest hits and songs from their new album. “Are You Bored Yet? ft. Clairo” blew up in 2020 and climbed up to spot two on the Billboard 100. They saved their most famous song for the very end. They tried tricking the crowd by leaving the stage. We were all chanting an encore for the band to play their most popular song. They eventually came back and played the masterpiece of a song. We were dancing and singing along the whole night. Minnette even looked at us and waved. It felt so surreal. Hearing their raw vocals flow through my ears was incredible. The concert felt so personalized which I always admire when going to one. The crowd sang “We Will Rock You” and “Hey Jude” and the band played along with us. I felt a connection with the crowd and the singers. There were smiles filling in the crowd with positive feelings in the air. Attending the concert was an unforgettable experience that left me fulfilled, grateful and satisfied. I’ve learned that music is not just about the sound, but the emotions it stirs, the memories it creates, and the way it connects people in ways words never could.
