During the Basketball season, Pep Band cheers on the Wildcats.Mr. Czekaj gets the band involved with the other sports. The Pep Band started in the year of 2023. At first Mr. Czekaj wasn’t sure how many band and colorguard members would join. But at every game more and more people have signed up to it! There are so many fun upbeat songs that the band plays throughout the game. Such as “The Hey Song”, by Gary Glitter “Sweet Caroline”, Neil Diamond “Yeah”, by Usher,”Jai Ho”, by The Pussycat Dolls,“Crazy Train”, by Ozzy Osbourne and many more! The Pep Band performs at every home game. Whether it’s one day during the week, or three days during the week!
A member of a pep band doesn’t have to be in the marching band In order to do Pep band. Any band member can join! I got to interview a few members from the Pep band and cheerleaders. Favorite Songs “My favorite song to play is Jai Ho.” says Nate Billet. “My favorite song is Crazy Train,” says Noah Dixon. “My favorite songs are Smoke on the Water, and Jai Ho,” according to Duncan Stevenson.
The Cheerleaders appreciate the pep band’s attendance.“I couldn’t imagine sporting events without a band. We are dependent on one another. The pep band gives life to the vibe of a sporting event, whether basketball or football,” Arianna Cramer. Between the pep band and the cheerleaders the team feels the enthusiasm. “I think they enhance our enthusiasm because when they are there, we get more excited. When they get involved, we get more involved too,” said Bri Vesely.
Josie Kubus has been in the pep band for two years. She plays the cymbals in the drumline. “I really like to see how everyone interacts with each other at every game.” said Josie Kubus. Nate Billet has been in the pep band for three years. He plays the Sousaphone with the low woodwinds.“I really like the atmosphere that the Marching band brings to the games! I also like learning about basketball because I don’t know much about the sport.” says Nate Billet. Noah Dixon has been in the pep band for two years. He plays the electric guitar. “My favorite part of Pep band is being able to play the guitar,” says Noah Dixon. This is Eathan Goughneor’s 1st year in the pep band. He plays the Alto and the Tenor Saxophone.“ My favorite part of Pep band is learning all the unique songs.” says Eathan Goughneour.
As you can see, over the past three years the pep band has become so much more popular! Each game is so much energy because of how wild and crazy they are! All band and choir folks are highly encouraged to join! It’s an awesome experience, and definitely recommended! You can learn so many songs and create so many fun memories! You can also learn how to play some pretty neat instruments!
