As the 2025 boys basketball season approaches, the team is gearing up for an unforgettable season, led by their four seniors: Kyle McNeil, John Wetzel, Max Butler, and Brady Provic. For months, they have been getting ready for their final season as Wildcats. Senior Max Butler said, “To prepare for this season we have been working out every day and having open gym sessions.” Together, they develop confidence on the court through open gym sessions.
These seniors have been playing together for a long time therefore they have developed strong connections on and off the court. “I believe building a good culture outside of the sport can lead us to play better with each other in the sport,” Kyle McNeil said.
Additionally, as the final season for the seniors begins they are not just focused on winning games but also creating lasting memories. “I am most excited to hang out and play with all my friends and teammates this year,” Kyle shares. The entire team has a close-knit bond including the underclassmen. Moreover, John Wetzel stated, “I am excited that in my last season, I get to play with these boys.” The younger players look up to the seniors, not just for their skills on the court but for their unwavering support and guidance off the court. Junior Ian Decerb said, “The seniors have helped me a lot since freshman year in becoming a better player and better leader for the team.” The seniors’ dedication to mentoring created a strong, cohesive unit where every player feels valued and inspired to give their best.
In conclusion, these four senior boys are determined to make their final season a memorable one with clear goals and a strong work ethic.“I am excited for all the bus rides home after big wins,” says Brady. These moments of celebration and camaraderie are cherished by the team, as they reflect on their hard work and dedication. These experiences off the court are just as important as the victories on the court, creating a sense of unity and belonging within the team. Their commitment to building a positive team culture, mentoring younger players, and achieving personal milestones will leave a lasting legacy on the Wildcats basketball program. As they step onto the court for their final season, they do so with the knowledge that they have prepared diligently and are ready to give their all for themselves and their team.
