Luke Wilochelll and Leo Joseph have been getting ready for their senior wrestling season for a few months. As they guide the team through preseason workouts and practices. They exhibit remarkable leadership skills. This is a key reason as to why they were selected as captains. As they enter their last season, their hard work and commitment set a positive example for everyone around them. “We want to finish strong and win states this season,” the captains stated.

In addition to leading their workouts and practices, Luke and Leo have been actively involved in mentoring the underclassmen. They understand that being a leader isn’t just about personal performance but about the entire team. “It’s important to be a good leader, so I try to be a great role model,” Luke emphasizes. This mindset has created a positive atmosphere where each team member feels appreciated and inspired to give their best. The duo’s leadership extends beyond the mat; they organize team bonding activities to ensure that everybody feels included. This has not only strengthened the bonds between the team members but has also boosted confidence, especially among the underclassmen who feel encouraged by the support they receive.

As the season progresses, both captains reflect on their journey and the hard work they’ve put in. “I think our season should go well. It would be awesome to make it to the Giant Center as a team,” Leo shares. The goal of reaching the state championship is a driving force for the entire team, pushing them to work harder and stay focused. This shared ambition has brought the team closer together, creating a strong bond among the wrestlers. They support each other through tough practices and celebrate small victories along the way. The captains’ leadership and determination inspire everyone to give their best effort, knowing that every practice and match brings them one step closer to their ultimate goal.

Despite the excitement of their final season, there’s a bittersweet feeling lingering in the air. “It’s sad that it’s my last season, but time goes on, and I just gotta work for the next opportunity,” Leo admits. His words resonate deeply with the team, serving as a reminder to appreciate each moment, give their all in the present, and continue striving for excellence—not only for this season but also for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. It’s a fitting way to finish off his and Luke’s leadership journey, inspiring the team to push forward with passion and purpose, no matter what comes next.

Lucy Blycheck is a senior at Greater Latrobe High School. She is excited to start her first year on The High Post Team! She is thrilled to be able to share stories about what is happening in the community or at school. Lucy likes to take photos and make things known of what's going on around the school (sporting events, dances, etc.). She is involved with Key and Interact Club, she is also involved in the Quill and Scroll Honors Society. Lucy plans to attend college and major in Business and minor in Interior design. She is undecided on where she wants to attend college but her top pick is West Virginia University. Lucy is also taking classes at the Westmoreland Community College during her senior year of high school. She plans to get her realtor license before starting college. When Lucy has free time she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She has three sisters, Abigail, Grace, and Mary, she also has two dogs, Teddy and Fenway. When she is with friends she loves to go shopping and just hangout. She loves to travel during the summer and explore new places. Lucy is thrilled to be part of the staff for the High Post, eager to get to know others better, and excited to share their stories.

Abigail Milyak, Staff Writer

Abigail Milyak is currently a senior at Greater Latrobe High School. This is her first year on The High Post staff. Abigail is a member of the Interact club and Key club. She is eager to take pictures, write stories, and learn new things. She believes the skills she will gain and learn will be incredibly important and useful to her throughout life. When Abigail is not at school or with friends you can find her at her job working at MB Prom as a stylist. This job not only allows her to express her creativity but teaches her important life skills that she can carry into her future career. After high school Abigail plans to attend a four year college, where she intends to major in Early Childhood Education. She is so excited to be a member of the High Post staff this year and be able to write meaningful stories that convey what is going on at Greater Latrobe. Abigail is thrilled to be a part of the High Post staff this year, as it gives her the opportunity to write meaningful stories that reflect what is happening at Greater Latrobe. She can't wait to begin covering the schools events.
