On April 22 and 23 Capstone held Kindergarten Earth Day in the CSC and auditorium lobby of the high school. Kindergartners from every elementary school came to this eventful program.
Capstone students volunteered to help out Mr.Roberts and other special guests like the animal show instructor and the director of the japanese art craft to carry out different activities on these days. There were about 15 students helping around 100 kids from every elementary school each day and Mr.Roberts split them up to assign them to a specific activity.
One of the options to choose from at this event was making seed balls with the kids which involved placing seeds in soil and clay, and then rolling it into a ball so when the kids go home they can throw it in their yard and a plant will grow.
Another option was making a Japanese inspired craft with the kindergartners which was done by rubbing ink on a rubber fish and printing it onto paper.
The final activity was an animal show and the kindergartners got a presentation while Capstone students carried around animals like snakes, turtles, frogs, and salamanders for them to see and touch.
Overall the day was an amazing experience for both the kindergarteners and the volunteers.
