10 Things to do While Stuck in Quarantine

Jake Warner, Staff Writer

Even though we are slowly starting to see our lives go back to normal, finding things to do when we are staying at home can be difficult. You may have already made a Quarantine bucket list, but hopefully, there is enough room for one or more activities you can find on this list.

Cooking: Even if you may not be the best in the kitchen, there are plenty of easy to do recipes online such as banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, brownies, or if you want a dinner or lunch option, meals such as a Ceasar Salad, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Grilled Chicken are all viable options that have very simple recipes online.

Go for a walk: A simple walk around the neighborhood or at your local park is a great form of exercise that you can do by yourself or with a family member or even a dog.

Tie-Dye T-Shirts: Tie-Dying can be a great way to expand your wardrobe and turn some of your boring shirts to something personalized. You could even step it up and bleach clothes for a different kind of design and color. Shirts also are not the only piece of clothing that you can personalize, socks are also a fun option.

Start a Garden: Growing food that you can use in making dinner can be very rewarding and a good skill to learn. It is also very easy and cheap. Simple things like Cucumbers, Peppers, and Tomatoes can be purchased and easily set up.

Contact Relatives: I am sure we all have one or two relatives that live out of state that we may have missed seeing over Easter. Giving them a quick FaceTime or Zoom call could not only help pass the time but would surely make your relatives day to know you are thinking of them during this time.

Online Shop: Shopping online is a great way to get prepared for the summer without even leaving your house. Many of us never got the opportunity to update our swimwear for this summer, and many companies are having sales to help during this crazy time.

Go on a Scavenger Hunt: There are many scavenger hunts that you can find online that focus on finding objectives such as a person riding a bike, fountain, or an emergency vehicle with its lights on. This is a great way of passing a whole day or evening.

Learn a New Card Game: There are a plethora of card games out there that you can learn to play with your family or even some by yourself. Games such as Poker, Black Jack, Spoons, and many others can be easily learned online and can be a great way to pass the time with your family.

Update Your Playlist: Tons of music artists have been using their time in quarantine to create music. Whether you like rap, country, pop, or whatever it may be, I am sure an artist in your favorite genre has put out some new music. Platforms like Apple Music and Spotify have methods of specifically showing you new music in every genre.

Plan Your Next Vacation: Helping your parents plan your next vacation could help in persuading your parents into going where you want to. It can display a sense of responsibility and how much it would mean to you.

I hope I was able to help pass a couple of days of quarantine with some new ideas.
