The United States Space Force is a newly proposed military branch that was announced by President Donald Trump in a meeting of the National Space Council which took place on June 18, 2018. If this proposal is passed it will become the sixth armed forces branch, along with the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Students from each grade were asked, “How Do You Feel about Trump wanting the Pentagon to pass the Space Force as  the sixth armed force branch?”

Lauren Sigut~ 12 Grade: Personally, I have always been interested in rockets, satellites, and just space all over. When I first started hearing about the Space Force, I thought it was a joke, a facade of the future where Space Soldiers would go fighting little green men. Then I read more about it, and I found out that it is essentially just a new branch of the military that will start by taking off by taking command of certain preexisting duties from the Air Force. As technology continues to advance, we are going to need more of a focus in these areas, especially, so I think it is a great idea to start the Space Force now so we can be fully prepared for the future.

Cammi Kaminski~ 11 Grade: President Donald Trump wishes to create a sixth branch of the military, a Space Force. As leader of a nation, Trump is using his executive power to look after the country’s best interest in all means. Creating an additional branch of military would ensure stronger protective forces, thus making America a safer country. As Russia is the only who has constructed a Space Force, Trump is attempting to keep us up in terms of self-defense. The Russian Aerospace Forces have the ability to work on new modes for the attacks, so Trump wishes to advance America to that point as well. Adding a new branch of military services to the United States would further advance the nation, in turn making America a safer country.

Josh Sarnese~ 10 Grade: I think that it’s a good idea to pass it as the sixth armed force branch. I think that it will be a big leap, and will help us advance our knowledge and what we’re doing in space. I think it’s important that the Space Force will focus on national security and preserving the satellites and vehicles that are dedicated to international communications and observations. I also think that it is important to do this because it will help take some of the Air Forces jobs. I also think that this could really help us take a big leap forward when it comes to advancing our knowledge and resources against possible military threats. I think that this is a good idea and that now is a great time to do this.

Harley Cochran~ 9 Grade: America, as a nation is growing vastly and our technology is advancing day by day, one major question to be asked is what’s next? Some believe we must find a new mean of domination and protection, some believe we must lower our means of domination to become more open to other countries. President Donald J. Trump tends to believe we need more dominance in our military. He proposed the idea to start a new branch into the military. This branch would be known as Space Force. Some believe it’s an interesting way to get America back into Space operations, and others find the idea foolish. I personally believe that it is a great idea. America getting back into space operations is something people have been wanting for a long time. The branch could provide a new perspective and take over some of the jobs that the Air Force currently have. I believe it’s a good idea.
