On Friday September 28  California Gov. Jerry Brown signed three new gun control bills.  In March Brown signed a law to raise the minimum age for buying long guns. Then on September 28th he signed a law that imposes a lifetime ban for guns if anyone that has been hospitalized more than once in a year for mental health issues and if someone was charged of severe domestic violences.  He also voted a law that will not allow anyone to buy a rifle or shotgun in a 30 day period. Even after he signed these new laws, people who are pro gun control are still wanting more.

In several states commercials are running that are promoting gun control highly.   While many parents want more safety for their children in school, some are against it going any farther.  Some students are concerned for their safety because as of January there has been a total of about 23 mass school shootings.

¨ Gun control affects my life because I feel safer with the fact that there is restriction on what can be bought and used,” said Emily Patrick.  ¨I feel that gun control is important because it protects people. I agree with gun control, because sometimes I feel a bit concerned for my safety like at school because  of the shootings,¨ Patrick stressed.

Josie Baum said, ¨ Well, I don’t really pay attention to it that much, but I feel like gun control is ok in some cases, because there might be less shootings. Although, I do feel threatened at school because of shootings that have happened.  I stay aware and try to live life with no worries¨ Baum having mixed feelings said,¨ Yet, gun control would affect how much people hunt, so the population of animals would be overflowing.¨

These laws are effecting young tennager, they are slowly changing our lives forever.  Now there are laws to raise the minimum age for buying long guns, a law that imposes a lifetime band for guns if anyone that has been hospitalized more than once in a year for mental health issues and if someone was charged of severe domestic violences, and a law that will not allow anyone to buy a rifle or shotgun in a 30 day period.
